This is a semi-formal event:  “Dress Fancy for Nancy”

Several generations of Theatre Company of Saugus members and Saugus High School students have been privileged to benefit from the guidance of drama/choral teacher, Nancy “Nan” Lemoine.  Now they are coming together to celebrate her and her work, by performing in Nan Through The Years, a grand revue of musical numbers, scenes, and sketches recreated from their performances over the past 20 years.

Nancy was raised in Saugus, Massachusetts and attended and graduated from Saugus High.   She started working there after college first as a drama coach and later as a teacher, holding forth in the drama classroom C09, as well as in the television studio, and on the risers in the auditorium.  In addition to teaching/directing theater, she has formed and directed the award winning SHS Chorus and barber shop quartets both male and female, and an improvisation troupe “Needs Improvment”.  She has directed numerous plays and musicals, supervised the student-directed one-act play festival, and brought a production every year to the Massachusetts High School Drama Guild competition.

Nancy has been a member of the Theatre Company of Saugus since she was a girl.   She has directed, musically directed, and performed in dozens of our productions over the past 40 years.  She has served as a Board member throughout the years.  She has been instrumental in facilitating the close working relationship between the town’s local community theatre organization and its public school system.  In her spare time she has also been the organist and choir director for the Cliftondale Congregational Church for many years.

The Theatre Company of Saugus and the Saugus High School Drama Club Alumni are sponsoring and hosting this reunion production.  Its leadership and performers are entirely made up of her alumni, as well as current and former colleagues and current students of this most influential and beloved teacher.  All funds raised by the show will go to help with her expenses and projects.

The show Nan Through The Years will feature songs and scenes, all of which were originally directed by Nan Lemoine.  Several shows were performed more than once at the high school in succeeding decades, so the numbers in the revue will often include roles with multiple generations playing off against each other.  Be prepared to for lots of surprising combinations that will make you laugh and cry.

Nan Through The Years will have one performance only, on Friday, November 30, 2012 starting at 7:30 PM.  The venue is the auditorium of Saugus High School  /  1 Pearce Memorial Drive  /  Saugus, Massachusetts 01906, near the intersection of US Route 1 and Main Street / Saugus.  (See our Directions page.)

It is general admission and tickets are sure to sell quickly and seats filled fast.  So reserve or purchase and arrive early.  Tickets are $20 for all patrons.  Tickets may be purchased in advance online, or at the door, or reserved by contacting us.

Those who are not able to participate or attend the show are welcomed to send greetings, mementoes, or contributions.  (Make checks payable to “Nan Through The Years”.)  Send everything to Nan Through The Years / 31 Pearson Street / Saugus, MA 01906.
