The Theatre Company of Saugus presents the New England Premiere of Nevermore: The Imaginary Life and Mysterious Death of Edgar Allan Poe, a musical with book, lyrics, and music by Jonathan Christenson. (The by Jonathan Christenson is not to be confused with other shows with the “Neveremore” title.)

Production Team
Nevermore will be directed and choreographed by Jason Hair-Wynn, who directed our production of The Laramie Project. Our Music Director is Shawn Gelzleichter, who has been MD for our Youth Theatre Workshop for the past several summers. We welcome Molly Scrivens as our Stage Manager. Producers for Nevermore will be Amanda Allen, Deirdre A. L. Shaw, and Wesley Toma-Lee, who all currently sit on the Board for TCS.

The world premiere of Nevermore – The Imaginary Life and Mysterious Death of Edgar Allan Poe was produced by Catalyst Theatre (Jonathan Christenson, Artistic Director; Bretta Gerecke, Resident Designer; Eva Cairns, Producing Director) and presented by Magnetic North Theatre Festival at Canada’s National Arts Centre on June 4, 2009. It was directed by Jonathan Christenson, with choreography by Laura Krewski, production design by Bretta Gerecke, sound design by Wade Staples, stage management by John Raymond, and assistant stage management by Candice Charney. The cast in alphabetical order was as follows: Shannon Blanchet, Sheldon Elter, Beth Graham, Ryan Parker, Garett Ross, Scott Shpeley, and Vanessa Sabourin.
Nevermore was commissioned by the Magnetic North Theatre Festival, co-commissioned by Luminato, and developed with the support of Keyano Theatre and the Banff Centre for the Arts. The New York City premiere was presented by The New 42nd Street, at the New Victory Theatre.
The Off-Broadway premiere of Nevermore – The Imaginary Life and Mysterious Death of Edgar Allan Poe opened on January 25, 2015 at New World Stages in New York City. It was produced by Radio Mouse Entertainment, Martin Hummel, Caiola Productions, Susan Jaffe Tane, Terry Schnuck, Hernreich/Howvath Productions, and Catalyst Theatre, in association with Fireboat Productions, Mary Cossette, and Meredith Lynsey Schade at New World Stages. It was directed by Jonathan Christenson, with choreography by Laura Krewski, production design by Bretta Gerecke, sound design by Wade Staples, music production by Matthew Skopyk, stage management by Candice Charney, and assistant stage management by Trisha Wilson. The cast in alphabetical order was as follows: Gaelan Beatty, Shannon Blanchet, Beth Graham, Ryan Parker, Garett Ross, Scott Shpeley, and Lindsie VanWinkle. The understudies were Jennifer Byrne, Stephen Cerf, and Rob Morrison. The production was general managed by DR Theatrical Management, with press representation by Polk & Co., and advertising by DR Advertising. The associate producers were Carol L.
