Seussical Jr.

Seussical is based on the works of Dr. Seuss, mainly “Horton Hears a Who!”, “Horton Hatches the Egg”, and “Miss Gertrude McFuzz”.

We are pleased to announce the cast of Seussical Jr!  Most of the kids are veterans of our workshops from the last few summers.  And we welcome the new kids!

Our directing / teaching staff returns from last year:  Shawn Gelzleichter is the Music Director / Vocal Coach, Britt Mitchell is the Stage Director / Acting Coach, Amanda Allen is the Choreographer / Dance Coach, and Jen Gelzleichter is the Technical Director.  There will also be a few teaching assistants.

Here is the workshop schedule.  The workshop runs for two weeks.  The first week runs from Tuesday 5 July thru Friday 9 July 2016, each day from 9 AM until 4 PM, including a lunch break.  The second week runs from Monday 11 July thru Thursday 14 July, each day from 9 AM until 4 PM, including a lunch break.  On Friday 15 July, we start at 9 AM and continue until 9 PM, with the first performance of the show starting at 7 PM, with breaks for lunch and dinner.  On Saturday 16 July we start at 12 PM and continue until 10 PM, with two performances starting at 2 PM and at 7 PM, with a dinner break.  Following the last performance we strike the set and move our stuff back into storage.

There will also be one additional session prior to July 5, on Monday 27 June, starting at 6:00 PM.  This is to meet and greet the staff, the students, and the parents.  We will audition all the kids so we can decide who will get which parts in the show.  Be prepared to sing a song.

Students should bring a bag lunch each day of the workshop.  There is a refrigerator.

The location of the workshop and the performances this year is St. John’s Episcopal Church  /  8 Prospect Street at the corner of Central Street  /  Saugus, Massachusetts  01906.

What do we do during the Workshop?  We play theater games, sing, dance, and act.  We make our own props.  We design, build and paint the set.  We build and try on costumes.  In the end, we put on a fantastic show!  When it all comes down to it, we make friendships and memories that will last a lifetime!

The fee is $400 per child.  There are discounts for multiple children, for early registration, and for members of St. John’s.
