Following its successful summer workshop on the Fundamentals of Directing, TCS put on a one-act play workshop! A Night of One-Acts. There was No Charge for admission to the performances.
Running in Circles Screaming,by Jeni Mahoney, was directed by Steve Russo. Two women watch their kids on the playground, sharing stories of mommy-hood joys, but when one shares her disappointment, the other turns out not to be the soul-sister she was looking for. Kathleen Coates as Heather (understudying for Sherry Raftery), Lisa Scopa as Lou, Nicholas Meunier as Stan.
The Philadelphia, by David Ives, was directed by Mary Moffett. A man can’t get what he wants, until his friend explains that he is in a metaphysical hole called a “Philadelphia”. Nicholas Meunier as Al, Lisa Scopa as the Waitress, Billy Thompsan as Mark.
The Proposal, by Anton Chekhov, was directed by Nancy Welch. A neighboring hypochondriac comes over to propose, but there’s an argument. Larry Segel as Stepan, Nicholas Meunier as Ivan, Amanda Allen as Natalia.
The performances were highly successful. This was our first production to be held at the East Saugus United Methodist Church, the new home for the Theatre Company of Saugus. The performances were on February 11 & 12, 2011 at 7;30 PM; with a matinee on Sunday, February 13 at 2:00 PM. There was a talk-back with the cast and directors following the final performance on Sunday.
