In October 2015, Theatre Company of Saugus will present the musical The Mystery of Edwin Drood. With book, music, and lyrics all by Rupert Holmes, Drood is based on the last, unfinished novel by Charles Dickens, and is presented in the British Music Hall style of romantic mystery comic drama. Not only does actor plans a character in Drood, but they also play an actor in the music hall. The audience votes in the second half to determine who is the detective, the murderer, and the pair of lovers, and so there are many possible endings to the show.
The director and choreographer of Drood is Adam Schuler, and the music director is Barbara Morash. (Brendan Kenney will music direct at some rehearsals.) Mary Moffett is the stage manager. Amanda Allen is the co-producer.
The performance dates are October 16-17-18, 23-24-25, 2015, Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 PM, with Sunday matinees at 2:00 PM. Seating will be cabaret style. Tickets will be on sale in September.
Performances will be held at the East Saugus United Methodist Church at 85 Chestnut Street, at the corner of Winter Street, in Saugus, Massachusetts 01906. (See our Directions page.)
