Jack the Ripper

Theatre Company of Saugus is excited to announce our Fall 2017 show:  Jack the Ripper, The Whitechapel Musical.  Featuring grand musical numbers and desperate ballads, in addition to grisly murders, the show is perfect for the Halloween season!

This sung-through show has music and lyrics by Steven Bergman, with book and lyrics by Christopher-Michael DiGrazia.  Both artists are local to the Boston area.  The show has received high acclaim in past performances, and TCS is privileged to join the companies that have presented this excellent show.

We are also excited to announce that the co-musical directors for this production will be the composer, Steven Bergman, along with Anthony Sacco, who was the brilliant musical director for three TCS shows over the past year, Urinetown, Heathers, and the Mis-Cast Cabaret.

With the music is in good hands, we are need of a Stage Director.  Candidates for this position should contact us, forwarding a theatre resume and a letter expressing interest in the show.  We will contact you to set up an interview.

The proposed performances dates for Jack the Ripper will be over three weekends:  October 13-14, 19-20-21, 27-28-29, 2017.  Auditions will be in late July or early August 2017.  Check back later this summer for more info on our Auditions page.  The location of auditions, rehearsals, and performances will be the American Legion in Saugus.

There are roles for about 6-8 women (prostitutes and victims) of various ages, plus the title role, the head of Scotland Yard, a police inspector, a doctor, and the townspeople of Whitechapel, who frequently comment on the action.  Also, the tale is guided by three “Gentleman of the Press” who act as active narrators throughout this murderous legend.
