Annual Meeting & Holiday Party 2021

Each year the Theatre Company of Saugus holds an Annual General Membership Meeting, at which we hold the election of members of the Board of Directors. This year, as is typical, we are combining the meeting with our annual Holiday Season Party. This event will be on Sunday 5 December 2021, starting at 5:00 PM. At the American Legion Post 210 / 44 Taylor Street / Saugus, Massachusetts.

All are invited, members, friends, family, etc. This is a potluck food affair. You are welcome to bring a dish to share. There may also be entertainment. Have a reunion with cast members from past shows, or just enjoy seeing old friends in person. The bar will be open, serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

In addition to the election, the brief meeting agenda will also include news updates about our upcoming projects. These include: auditions for our Short Play Festival on December 12-13-14; our holiday cabaret There’s No Business Like Snow Business, running December 17-18-19; Photos with Santa; and The Lion in Winter, presented in collaboration with The Psych Drama Company, running January 14-15-16 & 21-22-23, 2022. There will also be a discussion about the musical production to be presented in the spring.

Board Elections 2021

The Board of Directors of the Theatre Company of Saugus is responsible for managing the company. It has 9 members, serving staggered three-year terms. Each board member may be elected to up to two consecutive terms. This year, the terms of three members are expiring, and all of them are eligible to be re-elected: Matthew Garlin, Allison Perry, and Larry Segel.

Allison is choosing not to run again; we thank her for her years of service on the board, and in other capacities. Matthew and Larry are choosing to run for another term, and they have been nominated for re-election. The Nominating Committee has also nominated Benjamin Tan, who has served as an Alternate board member for the past year.

The election of three new board members, for the term 2022 thru 2024, will be held in-person at our Annual General Membership Meeting and Holiday Party. This will be on Sunday 5 December 2021. Additional nominations may also be taken from the floor at the meeting prior to the vote. All members who have paid their membership fee for 2021 or 2022 are eligible to vote, and you can pay your membership fee at the meeting.

Alternate Board Members also attend the monthly board of director meetings, but they only vote on formal motions if we do not have a quorum of regular board members. Alternate board members for 2021 include Rosemary DeGregorio, Billy Jenkins, and Benjamin Tan. Alternate board members will also be elected at the annual meeting.

If you are interested in serving as a regular or alternate board member, please contact any board member, or email us at TCSaugus@gmail.com. The other regular continuing board members include: Jeff Bliss, Alicia Groves, Victoria Isotti, Sean Perry, Deirdre Shaw, and Jill Sliby.

At the next board meeting after the election, all the new, old, and continuing members will meet to elect the officers for 2022. For more info see the Board Members page on our website.

Saugus Founders Day 2021

Each year (except 2020) the town of Saugus holds a street fair. Featuring vendors, food carts, games for kids, art sales, and information booths set up by community organizations and businesses.

Theatre Company of Saugus always participates. There will be a TCS info booth, and the kids from the Youth Theatre Workshop this summer will perform selections from The Little Mermaid Jr on the steps in front of Town Hall, starting at 1:30 PM.

Several fantastic raffle prizes will be awarded. Purchase tickets at the TCS booth.

We have a special Founders Day discount on tickets to Night of the Living Dead. See our Tickets page.

This year Founders Day is on Saturday 11 September 2021. Running from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM. On several blocks of Central Street, running north from the monument. The TCS booth is right in front of Town Hall.

We need volunteers to staff the TCS info table throughout the day. Greet visitors, hand out flyers, and run a raffle. We also need people to set up the table in the morning, and break it down at the end.

Click here to sign up to staff, setup, or breakdown the TCS info table at Founders Day on 11 September 2021. We will contact you with instructions.

Back to the Stage Summer Workshops

After sitting at home staring at your screen for a year, you are ready to get Back to the Stage.

In person. At the TCS home at the American Legion Post 210 at 44 Taylor Street in Saugus, Massachusetts. See our Directions page.

But your in-person skills are rusty. So we have a series of workshops to help you get back in top form. Click on the links below for more information about each.

For all in-person indoor events, participants are required to follow the current CDC guidelines. You must wear a mask if you are not vaccinated.

Fees for all the workshop sessions can be paid in advance with a credit card. See our Tickets page. Some of the workshops also require you to sign up for specific time slots or sessions. (For the Dance classes, payment is directly to SBJ rather than TCS.)
