Youth Theatre Workshop 2014 is almost here!

The Theatre Company of Saugus presents its fourth annual summer Youth Theatre Workshop 2014.  A place where imaginations can learn and grow!  Back by popular demand.

The show we will present this summer is Into the Woods Jr.

July 14-18 and 21-25, 2014.  Sessions run from 9 AM until 4 PM Monday through Thursday.  We will start at 12:00 noon on Fridays.  The workshop ends with performances of the junior version of this popular Sondheim musical show.  The performances are on Friday, July 25 at 7 PM, and on Saturday, July 26 at 2 PM and 7 PM.

There was already meeting for all parents and an audition for all youth who will participate in the workshop. We wanted to get scripts out to the kids earlier, because it is a longer show.  It is not too late to sign up for the workshop, in fact we would like to have a bunch more kids.  Please Contact us, so we can get you signed up and give you a script.

The location of both weeks and of the performances will be at Cliftondale Congregational Church (CCC).  In Saugus, Massachusetts.  Please see our Directions page.

Most of our teachers are returning this year and are ready to lead you through our awesome show-making process:  Musical/Vocal coach:  Shawn Gelzleichter.  Dance coach:  Amanda Allen.  Acting coach:  Britt Mitchell.  Technical Theater coach:  Jen Gelzleichter.

The fee is $400 per youth.   (Ask about the multiple-child discount.)  (If you had registered by July 1, 2014 you could have paid pay only $350.)

For more info on fees or the curriculum, email us at TCSaugus@gmail.com or call us at 781-816-7019.

Seeking Workshop Presenters

The Theatre Company of Saugus has a tradition going back several years of presenting educational workshops during the summer.  A variety of subjects have been covered, including various genres of plays and technical theater topics.  In more recent years we have shifted to offering musical theater workshops for youth.

For 2014, we will continue our popular youth theater workshop, but we will also revive our educational workshops for adults.  We are now seeking presenters, people who can provide a lecture or hands-on seminar on a theatrical skill, job, experience, or genre.

We expect that the workshops will occur in June and/or July 2014.  Each session would typically take two or three hours, and would start at 7:30 PM on either a Sunday, Tuesday, or Thursday evening.  Each presenter would do one session, but could also do more if the topic was extensive, or wanted to do multiple topics.

Very small stipends could be offered.  If you have a topic you would like to present, or have questions, please send a message to the board of directors at tcsaugus@gmail.com

Click here to read our postings about workshops, to see what subjects have previously been  covered.

Improv Comedy Troupe

Theatre Company of Saugus now has a new improvisational comedy troupe.  We have chosen the name “Back to Square One”.

The first performance was at the TCS general meeting on 30 January 2014.  Those performing included:  Josh Carter, Brittany Daley, Racheal Gilman, Brittnay Mitchell, Larry Segel, Jess Stockton, Sarah Thibodeau.

We expect to add additional members to the troupe as we continue to rehearse and perform.  New members are welcome!  If you are interested in joining, please contact us, with attention to our organizer, Britt Mitchell.

[title of show] is wonderful!

Audiences love our show.  Tickets are on sale for the remaining performances of our production of [title of show], which is the actual title of the show.  It’s a very clever musical show about writing a show about writing a show.

Goldstar members can get tickets at a discounted price!
